Overview: Wish You Were Here is a website (built for mobile) and poster exhibit that was displayed at Design Festa Gallery on July 24 - 26, 2026.
Through my experiences living in both Tokyo & Los Angeles, I ended up with loved ones scattered across the world. Letter writing, checking in, sending postcards — these are how I've stayed connected across that distance. A way of saying, I'm thinking about your world, not just mine.
My website follows that curiosity further, with the help of modern technology. It serves as a one-page portal into cities you're not in in real time. Accompanying this website are postcards that display the directions our thoughts can travel in hopes of reaching someone, whether they are across the world, across time, or residing only in remembrance.
Through this project, you may find yourself thinking about the vastness of the world, a person frozen in time, or the version of yourself you left behind for a new life. I hope Wish You Were Here reaches anyone whose mind has ever lived in more than one place at once.
